US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met privately at the White House as Ukraine sought renewed military and diplomatic support in its war with Russia. Although no formal statement was issued following the hour-long meeting, Zelenskyy described the discussions as positive, saying they covered possible licences for Ukraine to produce Patriot air defence interceptors, strengthening military cooperation, and restarting diplomatic efforts to pursue peace. Since returning to office, President Trump has shifted US policy away from direct arms deliveries, instead enabling European allies to purchase American weapons for Ukraine. The talks took place as Russia continued intensified missile and drone attacks, with the United Nations reporting the highest civilian casualties since April 2022. Zelenskyy also expressed gratitude for continued US support and paid tribute to the late Senator Lindsey Graham, a longstanding advocate for Ukraine. The meeting underlines continuing international efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defences while seeking a pathway towards a negotiated end to more than four years of devastating conflict. See and See
