Amid the devastation caused by Venezuela’s recent earthquakes, the dramatic rescue of twelve-year-old Fabiana Blanco has become a powerful story of hope and answered prayer. Trapped beneath the rubble of her collapsed apartment block for 32 hours, Fabiana survived under concrete and a fallen door while waiting to be found. Her mother, Karina, feared the worst after returning home to find the building destroyed and said she had surrendered her grief to God, asking Him for strength to face life without her daughter. Moments later, she learned Fabiana was still alive. A trapped nurse first alerted rescuers to the girl’s cries, while local volunteer Viktor refused to abandon the search, organising neighbours to illuminate the site with motorcycle headlights so that firefighters could continue digging through the night. Fabiana later described experiencing an unusual sense of peace and hope despite her ordeal. Of about fifty residents in the building, only three survived. Her joyful rescue has become a symbol of faith, courage, and God’s mercy in the midst of overwhelming tragedy.
