Andy Burnham has continued to appoint members of his ministerial team, including several Labour MPs known for their Christian faith and public service. Jonathan Reynolds has been named secretary of state for business and science. He previously chaired Christians on the Left for nine years, helping encourage Christian engagement within the Labour movement. Sir Stephen Timms, another former chair of the organisation, remains minister for social security and disability. He is currently leading a major review of disability benefits, with final recommendations expected later this year. Florence Eshalomi has also joined the ministry of housing and local government. A practising Roman Catholic, she has described the Church as an anchor throughout her life. These appointments have been welcomed by Christians who value the presence of believers in public office and recognise the opportunities and responsibilities that accompany national leadership. Please pray that these ministers will serve with humility, integrity, compassion, and courage, allowing their faith to influence their decisions and their concern for those most vulnerable in society.

Crosswinds Prayer Trust was founded in 1994, at Nailsea, near Bristol in the South-west of England by Canon John Simons. Its aim is to mobilise, inform, connect and equip people in Christian Prayer...
