International Christian Concern says that In Muslim-majority communities along Tanzania's coast, including Zanzibar, small Christian congregations continue to gather for worship despite growing intimidation, harassment and occasional attacks. Pastors say some congregations have shortened evening services or moved prayer meetings to daylight hours amid rising insecurity, while converts from Muslim backgrounds risk isolation from relatives, loss of financial support, or expulsion from their homes if their new faith becomes known. 'When a church is threatened, it is not only a building that is affected’, one pastor said. 'People begin to fear even the simple act of coming together to pray’. A Christian mother said her children ask why they must be careful about going to church, adding she wants them to remember church as a place where they meet God, not a place of fear. Despite the pressure, believers continue to gather, saying their faith remains stronger than fear, even as many carry their faith quietly to avoid conflict with those closest to them.
