Ukraine: ‘bombs are not stopping the baptisms’

Christian workers serving in Ukraine are reporting baptisms and growing faith despite continuing Russian attacks and the suffering caused by war. Free Burma Rangers founder Dave Eubank described beginning a recent mission by baptising Jasmine, an Australian volunteer reporter who said she had encountered God and wanted to follow Jesus. The team then travelled towards frontline areas, delivering humanitarian and medical supplies while praying with soldiers, police and displaced families. One church near the frontline told them it had sheltered more than 20,000 people fleeing attacks, providing food, accommodation, prayer and opportunities to hear about Jesus. The mission concluded with a programme for orphans and displaced children traumatised by the conflict, where further baptisms took place. Eubank said the journey had begun and ended with baptism, declaring that bombs could not stop people responding to Christ. Amid grief and danger, Ukrainian chaplains and churches continue serving communities, while international Christian organisations provide practical assistance and spiritual encouragement to those enduring the war.
