A Scottish man who appeared on the UK’s most wanted list has been arrested in Madrid following a two-year international investigation. John Rocks, 37, was wanted by Police Scotland in connection with multiple alleged sexual assaults said to have taken place between 2012 and 2022. Spanish police believe he had been living a nomadic lifestyle, moving frequently to evade capture after initially being traced to the Benidorm area. Officers located him in central Madrid, where he allegedly attempted to conceal his identity and gave false personal details following his arrest. Investigators identified him through distinctive tattoos before fingerprint checks confirmed his identity. Rocks has appeared before a Spanish court and remains in custody while extradition proceedings to the UK are considered. The arrest marks the 101st capture under Operation Captura, a joint initiative between the National Crime Agency, Crimestoppers, and Spanish police to locate fugitives believed to be hiding in Spain. Authorities say the operation demonstrates the effectiveness of international cooperation in bringing wanted suspects before the courts.
