24-7 Prayer founder Pete Greig has shared a prophetic word he received earlier this year that he had hoped was mistaken: 'Prepare for war’. Greig said he heard this while worshipping with prayer leaders in South Africa in March, and within the hour learned that the movement's Beirut prayer team was being evacuated ahead of expected Israeli bombing. Seeking reassurance, Greig asked a Christian leader with Foreign Office experience whether he was 'barking mad’, only to be told that officials had spent nine years 'quietly, behind the scenes’, preparing for war. Separately, a stranger sent Greig a handwritten note describing a dream of 'young men's bodies piled up’ - received, it emerged, on the same night Greig heard the word in South Africa. Greig is most concerned by the potential for cyberwarfare to disrupt communications and supply chains, with risk of wider escalation. He is urging Christians to pray for peace and hold a robust theology of hope rather than panic.
