Counter-terrorism police have arrested a seventh suspect in connection with an alleged terrorist plot near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. The 22-year-old British national was detained in Westminster on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts. Six other men were previously arrested and subsequently released on bail after three suspicious vans were stopped near the airbase on 27 September. Investigators are pursuing several lines of inquiry to establish the circumstances and possible motivation behind the incident. Andy Burnham previously stated there were 'strong indications' of Iranian involvement, but the investigation remains ongoing. Meanwhile, American bombers stationed at RAF Fairford have returned to the USA, reportedly following concerns about a possible coordinated drone attack against the base. The Pentagon confirmed the redeployment while emphasising that its bomber forces remain fully operational and capable of conducting global missions.
