The man accused of murdering former Conservative minister Ann Widdecombe has appeared in court facing an additional charge of preparing terrorist acts, including allegedly attempting to enter Nigel Farage’s home. Joshua Kerry, 28, from Rotherham, is accused of researching prominent individuals and institutions online, identifying potential targets and travelling to the Reform UK leader’s residence. Prosecutors said that damage had been discovered around Farage’s front door in April 2025, alongside a bottle of lighter fluid found in the porch. They suggested the damage indicated an attempted break-in. Kerry was previously charged with murdering Widdecombe, 78, who was found dead at her Devon home in July following a violent attack. The former MP served in government during the 1990s before joining Reform UK in 2019. Kerry has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey. The allegations raise further concerns about threats against political figures and the importance of protecting those participating in British public life.
